Principal's Blog

Kia Ora, Greetings.
It's my great pleasure to be the principal of Shirley Intermediate School.  Having taught in - and lead - a wide  variety of schools I am especially enjoying the intermediate age level.  Children arrive here while still largely dependent on their parents, but they are also on the cusp of a very special - and important - time of life, as they move into initial levels of independence.

That's what makes our job here so special. We work with you to help guide your child as he or she deepens their knowledge and understanding of our society - that is, the "real world".   Academic, cultural and sporting opportunities abound in our community focused  learning environment. We join you in helping children to appreciate cultures and personalities beyond the experience of their early schooling years.   We seek to build the characteristics which enable them to live full and satisfying lives

Our teachers are specialists; Everything they do is based on the needs and knowledge of the early adolescent.

it is this opportunity to contribute to the development of fine young people that excites me about being the principal at Shirley intermediate school.
Please, if you want to contact me to discuss anything at all about your child or our school, contact me through our school office or directly through

Kind regards

Geoff Siave
